Journalists go fellwalking with Prince William

Reporters from Cumbria enjoyed a taste of the great outdoors and an audience with Prince William.

Journalists from Carlisle daily the News and Star and Cumberland and Westmorland Herald went fellwalking with the Prince as he chatted with homeless young people involved with local charity Centrepoint.

News and Star reporter Pamela McClounie presented the Prince with an issue of the title which splashed on the story cancellation of the Cumberland Show due to bad weather.

She said: "I know that Prince Charles has an interest in farming and rural affairs and his press secretary said that his son is following in his footsteps so I gave him a copy of the paper."

Following the visit, the Herald splashed on the fell walk story in the following edition and the News and Star published a double page spread.

It also covered the Prince's trip on a steamer with children and families connected to charity WellChild.
