Trinity Mirror launches Welsh language news website

Welsh language speakers can now read news in their native tongue on a new website launched today.

dailypostcymraeg.co.uk is run by Trinity Mirror's North Wales team, in Llandudno Junction, and is a sister website to its newspaper the Daily Post.

It will provide regular news updates from the patch as well as the main headlines from across the UK.

There are videos with Welsh language commentaries and interviews and visitors can join forums and submit comments and blogs in Welsh.

Online columnists will include Welsh political figure Dafydd Wigley who served as MP for Caernarfon from 1974 until 2001.

Rob Irvine, Trinity Mirror North Wales' publishing director, said: "The Daily Post is committed to supporting the growth of the Welsh language.

"We hope that visitors to the site will embrace the opportunity by sending us their stories and comments in Welsh.

"Our aim is to build a vibrant site that will prove popular with the hundreds of thousands of people who speak Welsh and that is great news for anyone who cares about the Welsh language."
