Newspaper publisher launches more 'hyperlocal' websites

Regional newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror is set to launch two new 'hyperlocal' websites next month.

They will focus on the CV5 and CV6 postcodes in Coventry on the back of a successful project on the Evening Gazette's website in Teesside.

The community-based sites will cover parts of the Coventry Telegraph's circulation area and use reader content such as blogs and photos.

Trinity Mirror spokesman Richard Ellis said: "The ongoing project in Teesside has been successful.

"Generated by the success of this, we're looking at other areas where we can roll out that initiative.

"We're now focussing on Coventry. We're continually looking for future opportunities of developing titles across our portfolio."

Trinity Mirror launched its hyperlocal project last April and now has sites for 22 TS postcodes in the Evening Gazette's circulation area.
