After the success of entering a "photo-shopped" baby, Juanzo, in The Kent & Sussex Courier's 'Baby of the Year' competition, a blog hoaxer urged people to send distorted pictures of animals to the Kent Messenger's Precious Pets contest.

But the paper smelled a rat (if you know what I mean) and pre-empted a barrage from would-be computer whizz-kids:

We can confirm it was actually the raider who was drunk and found to be hiding in a wardrobe, not the robber finding some drunk guy in there while he was ransacking the place.
